Broadlands Men's Club - Local Rules
- Additional drop area. If a player hits a ball into the lake in front of and to the right of #6 green, the player has the option of dropping a ball on the silver tees. They may not put a ball on a tee in the silver teeing area, only a knee-high drop.
- Additional drop area. If a player hits a ball into the red penalty area on hole 11, the player has the option of dropping a ball on the silver tees. They may not put a ball on a tee in the silver teeing area, only a knee-high drop.
- Black Tee, hole #15. If a player hits a ball from the black tees, left, towards the red penalty area, and it is not known for certain (from the vantage point of the tee box whether) if it crossed the painted red line in a location where you could drop at that forward point, the player is allowed to hit a provisional ball from the black teeing area.
- Maximum Stoke Limit. Rule 21.1. The maximum score on any hole is a 10. That is a 10 gross score, not net. Once a player has hit their 9th shot, pick up and record a 10. A player’s score for each hole is capped at a maximum set by the Committee, which may be fixed (such as 10). A player who does not complete a hole (often referred to informally as “picking up”) is not disqualified but simply gets the maximum score for the hole.
- Lost Ball and Out of Bounds. Rule E- Example, you lost your tee shot or hit it out of bounds. You can take relief under the Local Rule for two penalty strokes, which means that you will be playing your 4th shot after taking your drop. To take relief:
- Identify your ball and fairway reference points. Ball Reference Point: For a lost ball, this is the estimated spot where your ball came to rest on the course. For a ball that went out of bounds, it is the estimated spot where it crossed the out of bounds line. Fairway Reference Point: The nearest spot on the fairway of the hole you are playing that is the same distance from the hole as the ball reference point, or farther.
- From the fairway reference point, you can then measure two club-lengths further into the fairway, but not closer to the hole. Within this two club-length area on the edge of the fairway is where you will drop your ball most of the time. Sometimes you may have to take a drop that is not in the fairway.
- Green Side sprinkler relief. Rule F-5. Appendix 1 part B. If a sprinkler head is within 2 club lengths of the green, and the player’s golf ball is within 2 club lengths of the sprinkler head, and the sprinkler head is in direct line of a shot to the pin, the player can have free relief. The player finds the nearest point of relief, not closer to the hole, and has one club length to drop the ball.
- Music on the golf course. A player must ask their group if playing music is acceptable. If any member of the group does not wish to hear music, music must not be played. Penalty is Disqualification for distracting a fellow competitor. Rule 14-3, 4.3a (4), 1.2
- Continuous Putting – New this season. The player on the green furthest from the hole will start putting and continue putting until that player has completed the hole. Then each player furthest from the hole consecutively.
